The WordPress Dashboard

The Dashboard is the first screen you see when you log into the administration area of your site – this is a brief run-down to get you orientated:

Posts: This is where you will add posts for your blog.
Slideshow: This is where you will add images for your homepage slideshow.
Media: The Media Library consists of images, videos and files which you have uploaded to your site. The Media Library Screen allows you to edit, view and delete media previously uploaded to your site.
Comments: If comments are activated then this is where you will see visitors’ comments. Once you approve a comment it will show on the site.
Portfolio: A portfolio consists of a number of galleries. This is where you add galleries and images for one portfolio. Or if you want more than one portfolio, you can create portfolio categories here and associate galleries to each portfolio category.
Contact: This is where you can add a contact form (e.g. install contact form 7 plugin). This code can then be pasted into a page.
Appearance: This is where you can access themes, your menu, widgets, theme options and customize your site background etc.
Plugins: This is where you can install plugins into your site.
Users: This is where you can add new users.
Settings: This is where you can access your general settings and determine various settings throughout your site.
