Overview:

Plugins allow you to easily add extra functionality to your website. There are many plugins available both free and paid – have a look at  WordPress Plugin Directory which is an amazing resource. It has over 26,000 plugins listed – as well as support, reviews and instructions.

To see your current plugins:

From your WordPress dashboard, go to PLUGINS > INSTALLED PLUGINS – here you will be able to see all the plugins that you currently have installed on your site, which are active plus which ones need to be updated.

To install a plugin:

  1. From your WordPress dashboard, go to PLUGINS
  2. Click ADD NEW
  3. Click SEARCH to search the WordPress Plugin Directory or upload a plugin from your computer
  4. Once installed – click ACTIVATE
Be aware that not all plugins are kept up to date or have necessarily been updated to work with your version of WordPress. Make sure you do your research before installing a plugin. Whilst we have endeavoured to make our themes as robust and compatible as possible – occasionally (rarely) there may be plugins that conflict and cause unexpected results.

If your site stops functioning as expected you may need to deactivate or remove the plugin.
